Why I’m excited for it: As a community, we have been thankfully pushing for better representation from our authors and the stories they tell. Nothing makes me happier than seeing Historical Fiction author, Kate Quinn (The Alice Network, The Rose Code) team up with another Historical Fiction author, Janie Chang (The Porcelain Moon,) in order to ensure that Chinese American perspectives in 1900s San Francisco are being told with authenticity. Based on both of these women’s individual creations, I am sure this will be one you cannot put down.

2. The Fragile Threads of Power – V.E. Schwab

Why I’m excited for it: ‘The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’ was a life changing novel for me. I loved that it was a stand-alone novel. Most of Schwab’s work are series (which The Threads of Power will be). Typically, once I am too far behind in a series it tends to move to the bottom of my TBR. This is why I haven’t started the “Darker Shade’s of Magic” Series by Scwab. But I am going to really give Treads a Power a try!

3. The Fraud – Zadie Smith

Why I’m excited for it: I am very invested in Zadie Smith’s take on historical fiction. A strong essayist, Smith has tended to stay in the Contemporary realm with previous novels and short stories collections. I have a good feeling that Smith will be able to use their talents to best convey the “Tichborne Trial”.

4. The Unfortunate Side Effects of Heartbreak and Magic – Breanne Randall

Why I’m excited for it: Anytime something is compared to Practical Magic and Gilmore Girls, I am interested in reading it. The reviews have been great so far, and I can’t wait to curl up on an autumn day and read this.

5. Cleat Cute – Meryl Wilsner

Why I’m excited for it: IRL, the Women’s World Cup has wrapped up, but I am not ready for women’s soccer to be out of my life just yet. “Cleat Cute” comes just in time to fill this void.
