1. Anita De Monte Laughs Last – Xóchitl González

Why I’m excited for it: I was denied a chance to listen to the audiobook for this through NetGalley, but I have no hard feelings over the matter. Sometimes you get denied. I still desperately want to read “Anita De Monte Laughs Last”. Though, (at the time I am writing this) I haven’t yet read Gonzalez’s debut. The review Gonzalez gave for “The Bullet Swallower” lets me know that she has great tastes in books so her writing must be just as good.

By 1998 Anita’s name has been all but forgotten―certainly by the time Raquel, a third-year art history student is preparing her final thesis. Why I’m excited for it: This novel’s description gives me “The Paris Apartment” vibes but with “The Book of Cold Cases” meets “Only Murders in the Building” twist.

Why I’m excited for it: Fisher was constantly showing up on last year’s book club picks. I have yet to give one of her novels 5 stars, but they have all been sill enjoyable enough that I would consider reading more. This one in particular makes me thing of “A Simple Favor” and that is reason enough to add it to my TBR.

5. Murder Road – Simone St. James

Why I’m excited for it: Doesn’t every good “Old Wives Tale” start off with a couple in a car abandoned on a strange road where there is a deranged killer out to get anyone who stops? I am very interested to see St. James’ take on this story, especially when the couple actually makes it out of the road.

A young couple find themselves haunted by a string of gruesome murders committed along an old deserted road in this terrifying new novel.

July 1995. April and Eddie have taken a wrong turn. They’re looking for the small resort town where they plan to spend their honeymoon. Why I’m excited for it: I was denied approval from Flatiron books for this novel as well. But again, no hard feelings. Honestly, I am happy I now have the time to enjoy this one on my own instead of feeling rushed to get it in (with the 5 other March releases dates I have).
