Sunday – Detroit FREEP Preview Run w/runDetroit

runDetroit was holding an 18-18.5 preview run of the US side of the Detroit International Freepress Marathon this past weekend. Primarily it attracted those who are running the FREEP marathon on Oct. 16th. Since I was planning on running 18 miles this weekend anyway, and didn’t sign up for a half marathon to practice tempo pacing, I decided I would go into this one running at race pace.

It was an ABSOLUTE blast! The benefit of running with runDetroit was they did place aid stations at the same distances the FREEP would have them. I also just love running in a pace group. Our leader Shawn was so nice and really kept the conversation going – which I needed cause Shawn talked me into running with him and the 9:30s instead of with my sorority sister who was pacing the 10:00s.

For the most part, I kept up pretty easy but the last 3 miles my legs started to KILL. It didn’t help either that at the 15 mile mark, a bike group passed us on the road so we had to stop running. This ultimately killed all motivation I had, and I reduced my pace down to a 10min/mile at that time.

Monday – Rest Day

Tuesday – Easy Run

Legs were still pretty sore from Sunday, so a nice easy run was perfect. The weather was beautiful and the humidity has finally broke. Took the miles easy with negative splits.

Wednesday – Rest

Thursday – Easy Run

Friday – Cross Train

Saturday – Easy Run
